Renaissance-Natural Trumpets
In order to come as close as possible to the sound of historical instruments, we make our replicas according to traditional methods. All tubes as well as the bell of the instrument are soldered from hammered brass sheets and therefore show a soldering seam. The use of these methods produces instruments acoustically closer to original instruments, especially where tone colour is concerned. The garland is hand engraved and silver plated, while the ball and ferrules are engraved according to the original and also silver plated. The renaissance natural trumpet is burnished by hand according to historical methods before it is polished.
Key notations refer to a´= 440 Hz. Renaissance pitch was often either a semitone lower (a´= 415 Hz) or higher (a´= 466 Hz). The pitch standard of a´= 440 Hz was established much later.
